Poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) solution (40% aqueous)

PolyDADMAC is a water-soluble cationic polymer with quaternary ammonium groups along its backbone. Its persistent positive charge neutralizes negatively charged colloids and dissolved anionic materials, allowing fine contaminants to associate into removable aggregates. It also provides charge control in papermaking systems where anionic substances interfere with retention and process chemistry.

The selected product is an aqueous concentrate containing approximately 40% polymer solids. It is used primarily as an organic coagulant or fixative, rather than assumed to behave like a very-high-molecular-weight polyacrylamide flocculant. Neutralizing colloidal charge and fixing dissolved anionic material are related but distinct functions. Additional flocculants, inorganic coagulants or separation equipment may be part of the final process.

Typical Applications

• Industrial wastewater clarification: Used to destabilize negatively charged suspended matter and colloidal contaminants before flotation, settling or filtration.
• Paper-machine charge control: Used as a cationic fixative to manage anionic trash and help retain troublesome dissolved or colloidal material with the fiber furnish.
• Color-removal treatment programs: Used in suitable dye-bearing or colored industrial effluents to assist coagulation of anionic color bodies as part of a complete treatment system.
