Rubber accelerator CBS

CBS is a sulfenamide accelerator used for delayed-action sulfur vulcanization of diene rubbers. It provides a processing interval before rapid cure develops at vulcanization temperature, helping separate mixing or shaping from network formation. This balance makes it widely used in tire compounds and other demanding rubber products.

The selected granular material is N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide. Its delayed-action behavior distinguishes it from thiazole accelerators used without the same sulfenamide structure. Sulfur, zinc-based activators and any secondary accelerators determine the final cure profile and crosslink network. Low-dust granules assist handling and incorporation, while the chemical function remains acceleration of a formulated sulfur cure.

Typical Applications

• Tire tread and carcass compounds: Used in sulfur-vulcanization packages to balance scorch resistance during processing with efficient cure in the tire mold.
• Technical rubber moldings: Used in suitable diene-rubber parts where filling and shaping time must be available before the main cure reaction develops.
• Hose and belt compounds: Used in natural-rubber and synthetic-diene formulations that require a controlled processing window followed by network formation during vulcanization.
