Solid bisphenol A epoxy resin is a higher-molecular-weight glycidyl-ether resin used in protective coating binders. Terminal epoxy groups react with suitable curing agents, while the extended aromatic backbone contributes film formation, adhesion and mechanical integrity. Hydroxyl groups introduced during resin advancement also influence compatibility and available curing chemistry.
The selected material is a 1001-type solid resin supplied for further formulation. It requires dissolution or another appropriate processing route, unlike a low-viscosity liquid epoxy poured directly into a mixture. Its longer chains support coating-film properties while leaving reactive epoxy functionality for cure. Hardener choice and formulation establish the balance of toughness, chemical resistance and application behavior.

- Solvent-borne protective coatings: Used as a binder component in suitably cured industrial primers and protective finishes for prepared metal or mineral substrates.
