Tris(4-aminophenyl)amine

Tris(4-aminophenyl)amine is a three-functional aromatic amine used as a branching node in polymer and porous-material synthesis. Its three primary amino groups participate in condensation or acylation, while the central triarylamine structure provides a conjugated, electron-rich core. This combines network-building functionality with a defined organic electronic motif.

The selected TAPA reagent is the free triamine rather than its nitro precursor or a preformed framework. Reaction with suitable aldehydes can create imine-linked networks, while suitable anhydride or acyl partners provide other polymer connections. The three-arm geometry influences network topology, but porosity and functional performance emerge from the complete monomer combination and synthesis. It is therefore a building block rather than a finished adsorbent.
