N-(2-Amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzothiazol-6-yl)acetamide

6-Acetamido-2-amino-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrobenzothiazole is an acetyl-protected diamine intermediate in aminobenzothiazole synthesis. The acetamide masks the saturated-ring amino group, while the free 2-amino group remains available on the heterocycle. Removing the acetyl group releases the 2,6-diamine used in subsequent side-chain installation and chiral processing.

The selected material has no single absolute configuration assigned. It is obtained in routes that construct the thiazole ring from an appropriately substituted cyclohexanone and thiourea, carrying the acetyl protection through heterocycle formation. Deacetylation exposes the more basic ring-bound amine for downstream transformations. Keeping that amine protected also permits investigation of modifications at the heterocyclic amino position before both nitrogen functions are made available.

Typical Applications

• Racemic diamine precursor manufacture: Used in deacetylation processes that produce 2,6-diaminotetrahydrobenzothiazole for resolution and later pramipexole-related side-chain construction.
• Protected aminobenzothiazole derivatives: Used as a scaffold for derivatization of the free 2-amino group while the saturated-ring amino group remains acetyl-protected.
