N-(2-Bromo-5-methoxyphenyl)acetamide

N-(2-Bromo-5-methoxyphenyl)acetamide is a protected aniline building block with an adjacent aromatic bromide. The bromine provides a carbon-coupling handle, while the acetyl group masks the amino functionality during earlier transformations. The methoxy substituent establishes the oxygen substitution pattern carried into downstream aromatic fragments.

The selected acetanilide separates aryl coupling from release of the aniline. Carbon-framework assembly can proceed at the brominated position, followed by deacetylation when a free amino group is required for further nitrogen substitution.
