Polyvinyl chloride resin (SG5 K67)

Polyvinyl chloride is a thermoplastic resin whose chlorinated polymer backbone provides rigidity and compatibility with a wide range of compounding ingredients. Unplasticized formulations form stiff extrusions and moldings, while plasticizers can produce flexible materials. Heat stabilizers and lubricants are essential components of the processing formulation because PVC is sensitive to thermal degradation.

The selected material is suspension PVC powder in the common SG5/K67 class. It is a base resin for dry blending and melt processing, not a paste-grade resin intended for plastisol manufacture. Particle morphology supports uptake and distribution of appropriate additives during mixing. The finished compound obtains its toughness, color, weathering behavior and processing balance from both the resin and its additive package.

Typical Applications

• Rigid PVC pipes: Used as the base polymer in appropriately stabilized and lubricated extrusion compounds for piping products.
• Building profiles and window sections: Used in rigid formulations containing the required impact modifiers, pigments and processing additives for profile extrusion.
• Rigid sheets and boards: Used in suitable extrusion or calendering compounds to manufacture dimensionally stable PVC panels and sheet products.
