Triisopropanolamine is a tertiary alkanolamine used in cement grinding and performance-additive formulations. It helps disperse cement particles and reduce their tendency to agglomerate during grinding. Interaction with cement mineral phases can also influence hydration and later strength development, giving it a chemical role beyond simple powder separation.
The selected material is an approximately 85% aqueous solution for liquid-additive manufacture. It is commonly blended with other grinding-aid ingredients rather than used as a universal stand-alone strength enhancer. Its effect on hydration is particularly connected with the mineral composition of the cement, including ferrite-containing phases. The solution form supports metered addition and uniform distribution through a formulated cement-processing aid.
Typical Applications
Cement grinding aids: Used in liquid grinding-aid blends to improve particle dispersion and limit re-agglomeration during clinker grinding.
Cement strength-enhancing additives: Used in suitable cement formulations to influence hydration and improve strength development where the cement mineralogy responds to TIPA.
