Vinyl acetate-ethylene redispersible polymer powder

Redispersible VAE polymer powder is a spray-dried vinyl acetate-ethylene dispersion designed to redisperse when mortar is mixed with water. During drying and hydration, polymer particles form a binding phase within the mineral matrix. This improves adhesion and cohesion and can increase flexibility compared with an otherwise similar unmodified mortar.

The selected material is a construction-grade redispersible powder containing the protective and processing components required for powder stability. It differs from melt-processable EVA pellets even where the base copolymer family is similar. Its practical value is delivery of a film-forming polymer through a dry blend. The polymer complements cement hydration; it does not replace the cement binder or the water-retention role of cellulose ether.

Typical Applications

• Cement-based tile adhesives: Used to improve adhesion and deformability in formulated tile-setting mortars, including bonding to more demanding compatible substrates.
• Repair mortars and skim coats: Used to strengthen the polymer-modified mineral matrix and improve adhesion or resistance to cracking in suitable thin-layer products.
• External insulation-system mortars: Used in appropriate adhesive or basecoat formulations to support bonding, cohesion and controlled flexibility.
