1,6-Dichlorohexane

1,6-Dichlorohexane is a linear six-carbon dihalide with a primary chloride at each end of the chain. The two terminal substitution sites allow it to connect nucleophilic groups, while the hexamethylene segment supplies a flexible hydrocarbon spacer. Its main synthetic value comes from introducing that defined chain length into sulfur- or nitrogen-containing intermediates.
