Rubber accelerator MBTS

MBTS, or dibenzothiazyl disulfide, is a benzothiazole accelerator used in sulfur vulcanization of diene rubbers. It promotes formation of the sulfur network and helps control the balance between processing time and cure development. It can also serve as a primary accelerator in combinations with faster secondary accelerators.

The selected powder is the conventional DM accelerator, rather than a sulfenamide such as CBS. Its cure response depends on sulfur level, activators and co-accelerators, allowing formulators to adjust scorch behavior and the resulting network. It is used in natural rubber and suitable synthetic-diene rubbers, where the accelerator changes vulcanization chemistry without replacing sulfur or the complete cure package.

• Molded industrial rubber goods: Used in sulfur-cure packages for suitable natural-rubber and synthetic-rubber molded articles where processing safety and cure development must be balanced.
• Hoses and rubber footwear components: Used in appropriately designed vulcanization systems for extruded or molded compounds requiring consistent cure behavior.
• Combined accelerator packages: Used with compatible secondary accelerators to adjust cure rate and network formation in diene-rubber compounds.
