Flazasulfuron

Flazasulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide active used to manufacture selective weed-control formulations. It inhibits acetolactate synthase, interrupting synthesis of branched-chain amino acids in susceptible plants. Root and foliar uptake provide activity against susceptible grasses, broadleaf weeds and sedges, with both pre-emergence and post-emergence uses represented in commercial products.

Technical flazasulfuron is a solid active ingredient commonly developed into water-dispersible granules or related dispersed formulations. Its low-dose biological activity and potential soil residual activity are distinct from the physical properties supplied by the formulation. Selectivity is specific to the crop or turf species and treatment pattern; warm-season turf uses do not imply tolerance in all grasses.

Typical Applications

• Warm-season turf herbicides: Used to manufacture products for weed control in established bermudagrass, zoysiagrass and other specifically supported warm-season turf. Formulations target susceptible annual grasses, broadleaf weeds and sedges in managed turf areas.
• Perennial-crop weed management products: Used in herbicide formulations for designated orchard and vineyard floor treatments. The active can contribute control of emerged weeds together with residual suppression of subsequent susceptible weed emergence in the treated strip.
