6-Benzyloxy-1-tetralone

6-Benzyloxy-1-tetralone is an oxygen-protected tetralone intermediate used in elacestrant-related synthesis. Its ketone and adjacent ring carbon provide sites for reduction and bromination, while the benzyl ether masks the phenol during those transformations. The preassembled fused ring supplies the carbon framework subsequently converted into substituted dihydronaphthalene or tetralin fragments.

Benzyl protection separates aromatic oxygen chemistry from reactions around the cyclic carbonyl.
