Metarhizium anisopliae is an entomopathogenic fungus used in biological insect-management products. Viable conidia attach to susceptible insects, germinate and penetrate the cuticle, allowing infection to develop. This contact-based biological pathway differs from ingestion-dependent insecticides and can support management of suitable soil-dwelling or exposed insect stages.
