N-Propylcarbazole

N-Propylcarbazole is an N-alkylated carbazole containing a fused aromatic framework and a straight-chain propyl substituent. Its aromatic rings can undergo catalytic hydrogenation, allowing the molecule to be investigated as a hydrogen-lean component in organic hydrogen-carrier systems. The blocked nitrogen retains the propyl group during the intended ring-hydrogenation chemistry.

The selected compound is the unhydrogenated N-propyl parent, not its perhydrogenated counterpart.
