(S)-4-(4-Bromophenyl)-2,2-dimethyltetrahydro-2H-pyran

(S)-4-(4-Bromophenyl)-2,2-dimethyltetrahydro-2H-pyran is a stereodefined aryl bromide bearing a substituted saturated oxygen heterocycle. The para-bromine provides an aromatic coupling handle, while the tetrahydropyran fragment transfers an established chiral center and a gem-dimethyl substitution pattern. These features combine a reactive aromatic site with a preassembled three-dimensional ring substituent.

The selected S form is intended for synthesis of molecules that retain this chiral aryl–tetrahydropyran unit. Replacing the aromatic bromine elaborates the para position without requiring reconstruction of the saturated ring. Conversion to an aryl boron derivative provides a complementary coupling partner.
