Sodium acetate anhydrous

Sodium acetate anhydrous is a soluble sodium salt used for buffering and acidity control in industrial aqueous processes. In combination with acetic acid it forms an acetate buffer that moderates changes in pH. It also supplies acetate ions for selected chemical and process applications without introducing the same free-acid load as acetic acid itself.

The anhydrous powder contains no stoichiometric crystal water, giving a different mass basis from sodium acetate trihydrate. It is normally dissolved into a process bath or formulated solution. Its practical contribution is controlled acetate and sodium content together with buffering behavior; the actual working pH is established by the acid-to-salt balance and the other components of the bath.

Typical Applications

• Textile dyeing baths: Used with acetic acid in dyeing systems that require controlled mildly acidic conditions. The acetate buffer helps moderate pH changes during the selected processing stage.
• Leather processing: Used in suitable tanning and finishing-related baths where acidity must be adjusted or buffered. Dissolved acetate supports control of the process environment around the hide or leather.
• Industrial buffer preparation: Used to prepare acetate-based aqueous buffers for chemical processing and technical formulations. The dry powder allows the salt portion to be weighed independently before dissolution.
