Trimethylolpropane triacrylate (stabilized)

Trimethylolpropane triacrylate is a trifunctional acrylate monomer used to build crosslink density in radiation-curable formulations. Its three acrylate groups participate in radical polymerization, producing a tightly connected network. Its relatively low viscosity also helps dilute higher-viscosity oligomers before curing, combining processing assistance with a structural contribution.

The selected stabilized liquid is conventional TMPTA rather than an ethoxylated or propoxylated derivative. Increasing its contribution generally moves a formulation toward faster network formation, higher hardness and greater solvent resistance, while flexibility and shrinkage must be balanced through the remaining ingredients. UV curing uses a suitable photoinitiating system; electron-beam curing can initiate the reactive blend through a different energy source.

Typical Applications

• UV-curable industrial coatings: Used as a multifunctional reactive diluent in coatings that require rapid cure, surface hardness and resistance to solvents or abrasion.
• Radiation-curable printing inks and varnishes: Used to increase network formation in formulated UV/EB inks and overprint varnishes while assisting control of application viscosity.
• UV-curable adhesives: Used as a crosslinking monomer in compatible adhesive blends where bond rigidity and chemical resistance are developed during radiation curing.
