Sodium cumene sulfonate solution (40% aqueous)

Sodium cumene sulfonate is an anionic hydrotrope used to improve the compatibility of ingredients in aqueous cleaning formulations. It helps couple surfactants and other sparingly water-compatible components into water-rich systems, supports solution clarity and can reduce excessive viscosity. Its main role is formulation coupling rather than the primary removal of oily soil.

The 40% aqueous grade is a pourable concentrate that can be incorporated directly into the water phase. The aromatic sulfonate structure provides water solubility together with limited affinity for organic ingredients. Hydrotropic action is useful in concentrated cleaners containing surfactants, builders and electrolytes, where otherwise incompatible components can cloud, separate or form difficult-to-handle viscous phases.

Typical Applications

• Concentrated hard-surface cleaners: Used to maintain compatibility between surfactants, solvents and alkaline builders in cleaners for floors, kitchens and industrial surfaces. The hydrotrope helps keep the concentrate uniform before dilution.
• Liquid dishwashing formulations: Used as a coupling and viscosity-control ingredient in surfactant-rich dishwashing liquids. It assists the preparation of clear, pourable products when the surfactant and electrolyte balance would otherwise produce cloudiness or excessive thickening.
• Industrial detergent concentrates: Used in heavy-duty liquid detergents and formulated stripping cleaners containing substantial dissolved salts or organic components. Its contribution is improved concentrate compatibility and handling, while the main detergent system supplies cleaning activity.
