C8-10 alkyl polyglucoside solution

C8-10 alkyl polyglucosides are nonionic surfactants combining short-chain fatty-alcohol-derived hydrophobes with glucose-based hydrophilic groups. They provide wetting, detergency and assistance with incorporation of water-insoluble ingredients into aqueous cleaning systems. The relatively short alkyl distribution is useful in liquid formulations where water compatibility and coupling behavior are important.

The commercial aqueous grade is a mixture of related alkyl glucosides, with CAS 161074-97-1 associated with the C8-10 family. It differs from longer-chain lauryl glucosides and from broader-chain personal-care decyl glucoside grades. Its cleaning and compatibility functions are developed in blends with other surfactants, solvents and builders, rather than by assuming that every APG grade has the same foam or viscosity profile.

Typical Applications

• Hard-surface cleaning liquids: Used in cleaners for floors, worktops and other washable surfaces to wet the substrate and assist oily-soil removal. It provides a nonionic contribution alongside the main detergent and solvent system.
• Industrial and institutional concentrates: Used in concentrated aqueous cleaners containing builders and other surfactants. The shorter-chain glucoside helps combine cleaning ingredients while contributing wetting during dilution and application.
• Household spray-cleaner bases: Used in water-rich spray formulations where rapid spreading and compatibility with selected organic ingredients are needed. The complete surfactant blend establishes the foam level and residue profile.
