Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate

Ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate is a lipophilic vitamin C derivative used in cosmetic antioxidant and brightening systems. Esterification of the ascorbic-acid hydroxyl groups with branched fatty-acid residues gives strong oil compatibility. This structure allows a vitamin C derivative to be delivered through oily vehicles and emulsion oil phases rather than relying on a water-soluble active.

The neat cosmetic grade is an oily liquid incorporated with compatible emollients and other lipophilic ingredients. Its physical form and phase behavior differ from powdered ascorbic acid derivatives such as AA2G and ethyl ascorbic acid. • Anhydrous vitamin C facial oils: Used as the vitamin C derivative in oil-based serums and facial oil blends. Oil solubility allows incorporation into the continuous emollient phase without an aqueous carrier.
• Antioxidant moisturizing creams: Used in the oil phase of face and body emulsions containing a lipophilic antioxidant active system. It can be combined with water-phase humectants to deliver the different ingredient functions in one product.
