Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol is an aromatic glycol ether used for antimicrobial preservation and solvent functions in cosmetic formulations. It provides activity particularly relevant to bacterial control and can help dissolve selected fragrance or formulation ingredients. Its moderate affinity for both water and organic phases allows distribution through many emulsions and aqueous products.

The single-ingredient liquid is incorporated into a complete preservation system, often with complementary ingredients that broaden the overall microbial-control profile. It is distinct from preservative blends containing ethylhexylglycerin, organic acids or additional actives.
