Hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid solution (50% aqueous)

Hydroxyphosphonoacetic acid combines phosphonic-acid, hydroxyl and carboxylic-acid functionality in one molecule. It is used in industrial-water formulations for corrosion inhibition and metal-ion complexation. Interaction with metal-containing surfaces and compatible inhibitor components supports protective-film development in suitable cooling-water programs.

The selected material is an approximately 50% aqueous concentrate for further formulation. HPAA is particularly associated with corrosion-control packages and is often used with zinc salts or other complementary ingredients. This emphasis distinguishes it from additives selected mainly as stand-alone scale inhibitors. Its contribution depends on the balance of water chemistry, pH and the other treatment components, with dispersants or scale-control ingredients added for those separate tasks.
