Cocamidopropyl betaine powder

Cocamidopropyl betaine powder is a concentrated solid amphoteric surfactant used for cleansing, foam stabilization and modification of surfactant-blend behavior. Its betaine structure supports compatibility with several surfactant classes, while the coconut-derived acyl chain provides the hydrophobic part needed for soil removal. It is often used as a co-surfactant alongside anionic cleansers.

The high-active powder introduces substantially less carrier water than conventional aqueous CAPB solutions and is suited to solid or low-water products. It can be incorporated into a dry blend or dissolved during manufacture, depending on the product format. Compatibility with other surfactants supports its use in blends, while final viscosity in reconstituted liquids depends on the complete surfactant and electrolyte system.

Typical Applications

• Shampoo and cleansing bars: Used as an amphoteric co-surfactant in solid hair and skin cleansers. It supports foam quality and the overall wash profile without adding the water load of a conventional liquid betaine.
• Powder-to-liquid cleansers: Used in dry cleansing blends designed to dissolve or disperse in water before or during use. The powder format allows the betaine contribution to be incorporated directly into the solid product.
• Concentrated surfactant products: Used in low-water personal-care concentrates that are diluted during production or by the intended product system. It supplies amphoteric surfactant activity while leaving the formulator control over the final water content.
